Text: Acts 3:1-10

Title: Time to Get on Your Feet

Introduction:  As the colloquial phrase has it, many have come today who are down on their luck.  It seems as if nothing is going your way.  You are up to your eye balls in bills.  Some of you having been robbing Paul to pay Peter.  In fact, it’s rough out here.  The purpose of this sermon is to encourage someone to get on your feet.

I.                  Prayer Time (1)

·        Prayer is always in order

·        3rd hour (9 a.m.); 6th hour (12 noon); 9th hour (3 p.m.)

·        Little did they know that God had a 3 o’clock appointment waiting on them that day

II.               Predicament and Position of the Crippled Man (2-5)

·        (2) Lame from birth/born a cripple

·        (2) He got up in the morning ready to go beg

·        Some theologians feel he was “at” and not “in” because he was not allowed to go with his condition.

·        (2b-3) He was a beggar

·        (4-5) When Peter directed him to give them his attention, he was concerned about his “alms” and not his “legs”

III.           Power in THE NAME (6-7)

·        (6) Money, we don’t have…some things money can’t buy

·        (6b) Silver and gold I don’t have, but what I have I give you.  In THE NAME…Get on Your Feet!

·        (7) Gave him helping hand, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength
